[October 2011] – Local professional and amateur photographers, including talented youngsters, have just one month left to submit their best pictures showcasing all things manufacturing and compete for a share of Canon equipment valued at £5,000.

The EEF Heroes of Modern UK Manufacturing Photography Competition aims to raise the level of pride across the manufacturing sector by capturing the boldness, brilliance and beauty of what is now a modern industry.

“Entry into the competition is free and we’re inviting and encouraging photographers of all ages to submit iconic images of manufacturing heroes,” said EEF Chief Executive, Terry Scuoler. “It’s an open brief with plenty of creative potential and photographs can focus on and capture any aspect of industry – whether that’s a product, heroic people, places or anything relating to manufacturing processes.”

The competition is sponsored by Lombard and supported by Canon, The ERA Foundation, the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills, The Guild of Photographers, The Manufacturer magazine and The Digital Asset Lab. There are three entry categories of entry - these being professional, amateur and young people aged 14-19.

Winners will be announced at the prestigious EEF Future Manufacturing Awards in January 2012, and the gallery of winning and shortlisted images will be showcased throughout the year through high profile media exposure.

Prize vouchers for £5,000 worth of photography equipment, sponsored by Canon, will be shared among the winners. This will include the new range of digital still cameras and inkjet printers.

The EEF Photography Competition aims to create a new public image of 21st Century manufacturing industry by capturing the industry's ingenuity, creativity, technology and pride through inspiring photography.

Entry is free via the EEF website, www.eef.org.uk/photo, with entries closing on 31 October 2011.
